In the Streets of Szentendre, Hungary

Szentendre is a charming little town on the Danube River in Hungary, about 19 kilometres from Budapest.

The town has centuries long Serbian past, Serbs settled here after the Turkish Occupation in the late 17th century. Szentendre became the religious, cultural and political centre of the Serbs in Hungary. Nowadays the connection with the Serb culture has disappeared, it is better known being the centre for artists and small galleries.

Lipari and Vulcano, a Trip to Two Pearls of the Mediterranean Sea in Italy

I like volcanoes and volcanic islands.
I used to live in Kos, from where I guided an excursion every week to Nissyros to visit a crater and a small town there.
Now I live in Lanzarote famous for its Timanfaya Natural Park with its 300 volcanoes (I wrote about its lunar landscape here).
And I used to live in Sicily, which is itself a huge volcanic island, living at the feet of the Etna was amazing. Now it erupted again… In 2014 it happened too, we were there with my team on the top of the mountain and we could experience it LIVE.

However not only on Sicily can you find volcanic activities in that area. From Sicily you can visit the Aeolian Islands, which are created by volcanoes (Stromboli and Vulcano).

Night Fishing in the Maldives

I was living in the Maldives some years ago during the whole Winter (I wrote about it here in a previous post). In Summer Island once per week the tourists could go on a Night fishing excursion. It wasn’t deep sea fishing (some islands offer that too), it was a normal sitting-for-hours-long fishing.

When in Sicily do as the Sicilians do and cook some Italian dishes

I was so lucky I could spend a whole summer in Taormina / Giardini Naxos in 2014. Taormina is (one of) the most beautiful city(ies) in Italy, it is a small treasure box. Everywhere you go you can find palaces from the 18th-19th centuries, shops with expensive souvenirs and fantastic restaurants.

Eating is important for the Italians, everyone knows it. The best food is Italian: Spaghetti Bolognese, Pizza Margherita, Cannelloni with Spinach and Ricotta, Focaccia, Bruschetta, Lasagne…etc I must finish because I am hungry right now and thinking about such amazing dishes would make me more hungry.

It is possible to go on a cooking course in Taormina in many restaurants, we with my team went to one of these to learn there some secrets only Italian cooks can know.

White Sandy Beaches on La Graciosa Island

Since I spend my second winter half on Lanzarote it is obvious that I should see La Graciosa.

IMG_0513

I don’t think you heard about this Island only if you have spent some time on Lanzarote, not that popular like La Gomera from Tenerife… It is just 2 kilometers from Lanzarote. The name means ‘graceful’ in Spanish (I like the sound of it:).

The island is really tiny, 8 km 4 km and there are only 700 inhabitants. It even has a school and supermarkets, you can also hire bikes here.  There are almost no cars here only the jeeps waiting for toursists at the harbour to take them around the island

Key West just for a Day

I visited my best friend in Florida, Fort Lauderdale last year November and I thought I would see Key West from there. I didn’t think it would be so complicated to find a company that organises excursions from Fort Lauderdale too. I was searching on the internet, I could find some but they either cancelled it before or the price was too high. At last I could find one that had other guests too from this part of Florida.
