There was once an Azure Window in Malta…

In memoriam of the Azure Window in Malta

I visited the Azure Window  many times while working on Malta. It was a limestone formation in Dwejra Bay on the Inland Sea on the Island of Gozo. (Malta, Gozo and Comino consist of the Maltese Islands).

Some days ago, in March 2017, the arch collapsed after a heavy storm. There remained nothing of it… It is true that the past years scientists foresaw the collapse due to the erosion but nobody thought it would happen so soon.

It was a symbol of Malta, it is very pity for it 😦
